Help with Freewheel

Updated 2 September 2026

Freewheel turns a bike hire into a day of small adventures: spin the wheel, get a real place to ride to, and a card of the day when you get back. If something is not working, or you are stuck, this page is how you reach a person about it.

What to include

None of this is required, but any of it gets you a faster answer:

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Every core part of the app works as a guest: spinning, riding, photos, trails. Signing in is only for backing your trails up so you can restore them on a new phone.

Does it work without signal?

Yes, for a tour you have already opened. The map, the stops and the photographs download to the phone before the ride, and the route keeps drawing itself where the signal stops.

Why does it ask for my location?

Only to find places near you and to notice when you have arrived at a stop, and only while the app is open. It is never sold and never used for advertising. See the Privacy Policy.

What happens to my photos?

Photos you take at stops stay in your trails on your device until you delete them or share them yourself.

I scanned a bike shop's code and something looks wrong

Tell us the shop's name and what you saw. A tour is published by the shop that drew it, so a wrong stop or a stale route is usually something we can get corrected quickly with them.

Why was I asked to sign a waiver?

Before your first spin the app asks you to accept a ride waiver, and a shop that hired you a bike may ask for your name on it so they have a record of who accepted. What is kept, and who can read it, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Delete your account and your data

In the app: Profile → Delete account & data. That removes your account and everything stored with it. Data held only on your phone goes when you delete the app.

If you would rather we did it, email dan@freewheeltours.com from the address on the account and we will handle it.

For bike shops and rental operators

If you run a shop and use Freewheel to hand tours to your customers, the same address reaches us: dan@freewheeltours.com. For anything easier said out loud than typed, you can book a call.

The tour designer is a desktop tool, so build on a laptop or tablet even if you signed up on your phone.

Reporting something serious

For a privacy question, a copyright claim, or a safety concern about a route, say so in the subject line and it gets looked at first. Copyright claims have their own page: Copyright.
