Effective 2 September 2026

This page covers who owns what in Freewheel: the app itself, the things you make with it, the tours a bike shop publishes, and the open data and software underneath the map. It also sets out how to report material you believe infringes your copyright.

The app

Freewheel, its source code, design, wordmark, illustrations, copy and the arrangement of all of it are © 2026 Motion Story Pty Ltd (motionstory.com.au), except where this page or the app says otherwise. Nothing here grants a licence to copy the app, its branding or its content beyond ordinary use of the app.

What you make stays yours

Your photographs, the notes you write on a stop, the trails you record and the names you give them remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.

To actually run the features you ask for, you give us permission to store and reproduce that content for those purposes and no others: keeping a trail so you can open it again, backing it up to your account if you sign in, building the card of the day, and handing a share to the app or person you chose to send it to. If you delete the content, that permission ends with it.

Tours a bike shop publishes

A tour drawn by a rental shop, along with the shop's own name, logo, photographs and stop descriptions, belongs to that shop. Freewheel hosts and delivers it so their customers can ride it. Riders may use a published tour to take the ride it describes. Copying a shop's tours, photographs or branding for use elsewhere is a matter between you and that shop.

Maps, data and software we build on

Freewheel is built on open data and open source software, and the licences below are the ones that come with it:

If we have credited something incorrectly or missed an attribution, tell us and we will fix it.

Photographs on this website

Photographs on freewheeltours.com are either licensed for our use or supplied by the shops and riders shown in them. They are not free to reuse.

Reporting a copyright claim

If you believe something in the app or on this website infringes your copyright, email dan@freewheeltours.com with "Copyright" in the subject line, and include:

We will look at every claim, remove or disable material where a claim is made out, and tell whoever posted it what happened so they can respond. Accounts that infringe repeatedly are closed.

Trade marks

Freewheel, the Freewheel wordmark and the Freewheel mark are trade marks of Motion Story Pty Ltd. Shop names and logos shown in the app belong to those businesses. Other product names are the marks of their owners, used only to say what a thing is.
